Telechron Advertising Clock

Telechron Advertising Clock

This is a Telechron advertising clock promoting Telechron clocks.  It is unusual in that sense, as Telechron made millions of ad clocks for other companies, but very few touting their own products.  This one is set in a cheaply made wood case, with a glass panel reverse lit by a pair of 15 watt incandescent bulbs.  The circles where the numbers should be are holes in a cardboard mask.  Most Telechron ad clocks had stamped aluminum shells, but this one used a painted paper composition material.  This may serve to date this clock to the war years, when aluminum was nearly impossible to get for civilian products.  The hands are red and blue over a white face, which may also suggest a wartime date for this clock.
