Telechron Model "AL" Clock

This beautiful Art Deco model "AL" Telechron alarm clock was produced for a few months in 1933 and cost $4.95 when new.  It was a "special campaign" model, that is, a non-catalog item that was produced for a limited time as part of a promotional effort.

This was the first Telechron Catalin clock, and it may well be the first from any manufacturer.  It predates the first Catalin radios by about 3 years.  It was originally an ivory color but, as is normal with Catalin, has aged to a rich butterscotch color.  It was also available in black.  The base was made from a thin sheet of brass, stamped into the shape seen here, and reinforced with a piece of plywood.
