Telechron Model 3H91 "Glamour"
Telechron 3H91 "Glamour"
The Telchron model 3H91 was called the "Glamour", and was made in the early 1940's.  The movement was mounted in a piece of translucent "Pedrara Imported Onyx", according to a sticker on the back.  This example has much more veining that many that you see, and is quite attractive, especially in a sunny location.

Telechron made clocks similar to this one using a slab of Catalin plastic instead of onyx.  Catalin was originally marketed as synthetic substitute for onyx or alabaster, and it is ironic that the plastic version is worth more to a collector than one made from the real thing.
