Herman Miller/Gilbert Rohde Clock

Herman Miller by Gilbert Rohde

This clock was made by the Herman Miller Clock Co. of Zeeland, MI, in the early 1930's.  It is an exceptionally clean, moderne design by Gilbert Rohde.  The unusual hour hand is characteristic of his clock designs of the period.  The clock features a self-starting electric movement, and the grain patterns in the veneer accentuates its sleek, horizontal design.  A single chrome rib spans the width of the clock, and the clock body rests on a similar chrome base.  It is a fairly large clock, with a total width of about 16 inches, and heavy, as the case is solid wood.
