Westclox "Ben Franklin" |
The two clocks shown here
were called the "Ben Franklin", and were made by Westclox, a trademark of the Western Clock
Manufacturing Company of LaSalle, Illinois. They were introduced
in 1935. The black clock has a Bakelite case, and is marked as a model S1C on the nameplate. The white clock has a Plaskon case and is a model S4. The case was designed by Joseph Reinhardt, and was covered by design patent D96337, which was issued in July, 1935. It is a simple, clean Art Moderne design that doesn't look at all dated after 70 years. |
