Eastern Sound Velocity Microphone |
This microphone was made by
the Eastern Sound, Co. of Chelsea, MA, probably in the late
1930's. It closely resembles the RCA type
74 "Junior
Velocity" microphone both in shape and size (though it is ever so
slightly smaller).
No doubt, it was intended to capitalize on the popularity and reputation of the RCA unit. Internally, it is very similar too, employing a ribbon velocity element with matching transformer. It is finished in dark brown crackle paint and the only identification is the manufacturer's name stamped into the cylindrical stand adapter at the base. |
