RCA MI-12016 "Aerodynamic" Microphone | ||
The RCA
model MI-12016 dynamic microphone is one of a number of microphones now
known as "bullets", but RCA called it the
"Aerodynamic". The original microphone of this type was
introduced in the mid 1930's as the MI-6226 ("MI" stands for
"Master Item"). That model was essentially identical to
this one, but had a chrome plated shell (note the page shown below from
a 1937 RCA audio equipment catalog).
The MI-12016 shown here was introduced in the late 1940's and bore a two-tone painted finish. RCA called the color combination "light and dark umber gray metaluster". |
