RCA MI-12016 "Aerodynamic" Microphone
RCA MI-12016 "Aerodynamic" Microphone
The RCA model MI-12016 dynamic microphone is one of a number of microphones now known as "bullets", but RCA called it the "Aerodynamic".  The original microphone of this type was introduced in the mid 1930's as the MI-6226 ("MI" stands for "Master Item").  That model was essentially identical to this one, but had a chrome plated shell (note the page shown below from a 1937 RCA audio equipment catalog).

The MI-12016 shown here was introduced in the late 1940's and bore a two-tone painted finish.  RCA called the color combination "light and dark umber gray metaluster".
