RCA Type BK-5B Ribbon Velocity Microphone

The RCA model BK-5A microphone was introduced in 1954 and promoted as a replacement for the model 77-D.  It was a high quality ribbon velocity unit that was recommended for FM and TV work.  It is a unidirectional design, with maximum sensitivity on the main axis (i.e. when talking directly into the grill end).  An updated version, the BK-5B (as shown here) was introduced in the early 1960's.  It is shown mounted on an RCA model 91-C desk stand.
