Shure Model 315 Ribbon Microphone

The Shure model 315 microphone was a ribbon type which was produced between 1952 and 1977.  It had a bi-directional (figure-8) response pattern, and was recommended for recording, theatre, and high quality public address applications.  A sleek, modern design, it is about 8 inches long, and 1 1/2 inches wide.

It was also available with an on-off switch (as the 315S), and both versions could also be had with a gold finish, rather than the satin chrome example shown above.  There was also a "broadcast" version (the model 300) with a rubber shock mount, better frequency response, and a non-reflective finish.

The 315 cost $45.00 and the 300 cost $75.00 in the early 1950's.
