| Toshiba made
some very high quality microphones for the Japanese broadcast and
professional market which resembled certain popular RCA models.
The microphone shown here is almost identical in physical configuration
to the RCA 77-D, though at 9 inches (including the yoke and stand
adapter), it is about 20% smaller. The model number is
unknown.
I don't believe this microphone was marketed in the US. The impedance (and/or pattern select) switch at the bottom of the housing is marked only in Japanese. There were numerous other Japanese-made knockoffs of the RCA 77 style microphone, but this is one that approached the quality of the original. |
