Bell Telephone Laboratories Cocktail Shaker

At first glance, this would appear to be a giant tube.  Guess again.  It is a cocktail shaker.  The engraved plate on the base indicates that it commemorated the 30th anniversary of the founding of Bell Telephone Laboratories in 1953.  No doubt it was presented to a person of great importance in that organization.

As with a real tube, this one plugs into a socket.  It is a normal looking octal socket, but it is three times the usual size.  The entire shaker is about 12" high, and 4 1/2" in diameter, at its widest.  Note the real tube in the picture!  The shaker is made of cast aluminum, machined on the inside, and the base is made from a solid block of bakelite.
