Stewart-Warner Advertising Clock

Stewart-Warner Advertising Clock

Stewart-Warner built some great looking radios in the mid-1930's, so it is fitting that they would have issued a promotional clock such as this.  The shape and size match the typical tombstone radio of the day, and the styling is ultra-deco.  The front is mirrored and reverse-painted glass, back-lit by two incandescent bulbs.  The clock is about 18 inches high and 14 wide.

This clock was manufactured by the Crystal Manufacturing Company, of Chicago, IL.  Design patent D104,709 was issued on May 25, 1937 to its designer, Jose Trojan.  It used a standard Hammond spin-start movement.

The following picture gives an idea of how the clock looks illuminated.
