Belmont Model 602 "Scotty" |

The 1938 Belmont model 602 radio is one of the most elegant of the line of deco Bakelite and Plaskon radios built by Belmont in the late 1930's and sold under their own name, and several others, including Goodyear and Western Auto. For unknown reasons, Belmont named this set the "Scotty". They are "front and back" radios in the sense that the back of the set was nearly identical the front (but no knobs and dial, of course), and it didn't have to be placed against a wall to hide its innards. These sets were made in black and brown Bakelite, and white Plaskon. The grill cloth in the pictured set has been replaced; the original was a much lighter color. | ||
