Champion Cathedral

Champion Cathedral
This mid-1930's miniature cathedral radio bears the Champion name and may have been made in Lakewood, Ohio.  The model number is unknown.  This cheaply made 4-tube set measures only 11 inches high, 10 inches wide, and 5 inches deep.  It used a resistance line cord which plugged into the socket on the back of the chassis, a very dangerous design as the exposed pins on the plug at the radio end would carry full line voltage.  In those early days, the consumer was expected to have a certain degree of intelligence, but in today's litigious world, such products could never come to market.
