Detrola D-100 "Pee Wee" Radio |
||
This is the 1938 model D-100 radio made by the Detrola Corporation, of (where else?) Detroit, Michigan. It was called the "Pee Wee" for it's tiny size, measuring only about 6 inches wide and 5 inches high. It's plastic case was available in a number of different colors; this one was called "Deluxe Mottled Onyx" by Detrola. These radios were notorious for cracking of the eggshell thin cases, and warping of the Tenite tuning dials. The four-tube chassis gave indifferent performance, and the resistor line cord was a fire waiting to happen. | ||
