| This is the
1940 Silvertone model 6402. A four-tube midget set, it was made by
Detrola for Sears and, except for the case, is similar to the Detrola
Junior model. It has a more modern chassis, and no longer uses the
dreaded resistor line cord. The radio shown
has a brown Bakelite case; It was also available with a white painted
finish The volume knob on the pictured radio is probably incorrect.
This radio was featured in the Durez Plastics and Chemicals advertisement that appeared in the March, 1940 issue of "Fortune" magazine. |
