| The 1939
Silvertone model 6178-A radio is one of the great Art Deco radios sold
by Sears-Roebuck in the 1930's. This set featured a 5-tube
chassis, built-in loop antenna, and was made for Sears by Detrola.
A small set, it is about 8 1/2 inches in width, 2 inches less than the
Fada Bullet.
The example shown is in white Plaskon, though it was also made with a white-painted black Bakelite case with the same red knobs. It could also be had with a black or brown Bakelite case with white knobs. The black version shown is model 6177-A. |
