| The 1934 Stewart-Warner model R-1262A
radio is a large, heavy tombstone model, with exceptional Art
Deco styling. The 7-tube chassis featured standard broadcast and
three short wave bands. At a suggested list price of $69.50, it
was an expensive set.
It featured the Stewart-Warner "Magic Dial". While not exactly magic, it was unusual in way the dial scale slid up and down so that only the calibrations for the selected band were visible in the arc-shaped dial opening. The bandswitch knob on the radio shown here is incorrect (the center bottom knob). |
