Zenith Model 5-R-317 "Glass Rod" |
||
This 1938 Zenith model 5-R-317 has to be one of the most unusual designs for a radio. The entire left side and half of the front is dominated by an array of alternating glass and gold-painted wooden rods, with gold threaded grill cloth behind that, concealing the speaker. The chassis is a high quality, but conventional, 5-tube design. This radio has the dubious distinction of being one of the most difficult radios to dust that I have ever encountered. | ||
